Donald
S. Barrie Award
Award
Criteria
The
award is made annually at the PMI North American Congress
and is the result of the judges' decision as to the best
paper submitted. The judges panel will select the best paper
which, in their view, meets the following criteria:
- Provides
a useful contribution to the engineering and construction
industry
- Presents
a pragmatic approach to engineering and construction issues
- Focuses
on one or more of the following areas:
Engineering
and construction means and methods
Project organizations
and delivery systems
Engineering
and construction performance
Cost,
schedule and progress controls
- Discusses
unusual conditions, issues and /or challenges requiring
special management action and performance
The
papers will also be judged on the basis of originality and
innovation.
Judges Criteria
The
Design-Procurement-Construction Specific Interest Group
of Project Management Institute (PMI) is interested in qualified
judges to serve on a continuing, existing judges panel that
will decide the winner of the Donald S. Barrie Award.
We are
searching for candidates who have some prominence in their
industry or academic field and meet the following criteria:
- Education:
Bachelor degree or higher
- Experience:
Fifteen or more years in the design/ construction industry
or related engineering field in academia
- Responsibility:
At least 5 years in a management position of some sort
Membership
in PMI is not required but an understanding of the complete
project process as it is outlined, for example, in PMI's
Body of Knowledge is essential.
