Decision-Making During Execution of Megaprojects - We Need Your Input

Your participation is requested in this study about investigating the impact of the project manager’s decision-making during the execution of megaprojects. Though primary study focus is on the oil/gas industry, contributions from megaproject experiences in other industry sectors are very welcome. The study is being done in collaboration with a European academic institution (ESC Lille). Simplistically, this study assumes megaprojects as projects with total cost of about $1 billion or more. The study outcome will contribute to an improved understanding of the framework that should support decision-making on these big projects, such that stronger focus can be maintained on realising the strategic objectives for which the projects were initiated. I hope this may interest you as a project management professional. Your participation will be an important contribution to advancing the profession.

Confidentiality of respondees will be upheld - all responses are received as completely anonymous. E-mails and names inadvertently mentioned in course of your responses to this survey will not be mentioned in the use of data gathered.

The survey can be assessed here.
Questions about the survey? Contact John Eweje at jeweje@googlemail.com.

PMI Calls for 2010 Board Support Committees

PMI is seeking skilled, experienced and knowledgeable leaders for the following 2010 PMI Board Support Committees. PMI members who wish to be change agents and risk takers, and who are committed to life-long learning are encouraged to apply.

The PMI Board Other Committees are:

PMI Nominating Committee: Committee oversees and supervises the nominating process for directors of the Institute. Committee members implement and oversee the annual election process, and establish and maintain the committee's annual candidate selection and nomination schedule.

Certification Governance Council (CGC): helps identify, develop and maintain professional credentialing standards and principles for PMI’s certification program.

PMI Educational Foundation Board (PMIEF Board): The PMI Educational Foundation, the philanthropic arm of PMI, raises funds and awards grants to:

  • Expand educational opportunities for future project managers through academic and work-based learning opportunities;
  • Prepare primary and secondary students for success in life by using projects to teach them critical applied skills;
